Good evening all.
Ok, first post, so introduction time.
I'm in the 3rd or 4th year of growing things to eat in my garden, but I'm in constant need of assistance.
This is what I'm working with:
Which is an awful lot better than it was a few years ago. The shed was new last year, and bit by bit I'm digging up the lawn.
This bit should look better soon, if the fencer arrives tomorrow as promised:
I've got a dozen ex-council recycling bins to grow stuff on the patio. Please ignore the old fish tank and other rubbish. I will clear it soon. Honest.
So far this year I've sown / planted:
Beetroot (White, Pronto, Globe 2, Wodan F1)
Red Beard spring onions
Turnip (Arcoat, Golden Ball)
Swede (Invitation)
Radishes (B&Q Value range - allsorts!)
1st Early & Maincrop potatoes (Duke of York & Picasso)
Carrots (Nantes, Autumn King, Jaune Obtuse de Doubs [yellow])
Parsnips (Tender & True, Lancer, White Gem)
Cauliflower (Verde Marchigiano, All Year Round, Ottobrino Romanesco, Sicilia Violetto)
Leeks (Musselburgh)
Tomatoes (Orange Banana, Amish Paste, Kumato, Millefleur, Gardener's Delight, Red Cluster Pear, Galina, Purple Ukraine)
Chillies (Lemon Drop, Wenk's Yellow Hot, Pretty in Purple, Iranian Round, Purple Venezuelan [not yet germinated])
West Indian curcubit
Ruby Red sunflowers
I've got 2 lots of runner beans that I might sow this weekend. I need to learn what to do with celery.
I've also got the odd venus fly trap knocking about, most barely alive after shamefully neglecting them over winter.
I still consider myself to be very much a rookie. The old fella's the real gardener in the family.
So there you go. Look forward to leaching the experience from your brains.
