Our England is a garden, and such gardens are not made
By singing-'Oh how beautiful!" and sitting in the shade,
While better men than we go out and start their working lives
At grubbing weeds from gravel paths with broken dinner-knives. ~ Rudyard Kipling
Well I don't post much (as you can see, 20 or so posts in 9 months lol) becuase I don't actually know enough to offer any advice yet... but I read most days and it's a mine of information.
It was THE most stressful time, but now I am the proud owner of an awful lot of nettles and blackberry bushes and thistles..... it's far far worse than I remember. And bigger. Although I've never yet made it to the bottom of the garden in any direction because you just can't get there.
Thanks again for welcomes - we have found one fenceline and stripped the weeds in front ready for painting with preservative, installed a gate to access the footpath along the back of the garden, and hacked out way to the old goat pen, which is actually a fairly big shed and will be transformed into a chicken run in short order.
The daleks will b released when OH returns to work, otherwise he'll have the kittens - best he doesn't see.
I'm going to hack a path to a hedgeline on the main plot and just pile everything up and leave it in a heap for now.
ah well actually I've been nursing a knee which has had surgery yesterday - youngest daughter found the fenceline and OH installed the gate this afternoon with me sitting watching - but I'm having the credit.
I knew there was a pen there, but hadn't been able to get to it - but it's a shed, about 7 foot by 7 foot I think, with a bench along one wall, and it's in a totally enclosed erm, 6 foot chainlink fence pen. So I shall just modify the shed, reroof it and then I have my chicken run.
I have to ask the chicken ladies about what to paint the shed with and how to modify it - but I'll have to recover a bit more before I get up any ladders.
