  • Hello there!

Hello everyone. This is my first time gardening and I think I'm starting relatively young at 23 years of age!

Being so young I've grown up with computers and I'm pretty adept at Googling so I've managed to find out most things for myself but there's still a few questions I'd like to put a broader audience than the 2 other gardeners I know!

And maybe one day I can answer a question or two myself... maybe.

Welcome. Bear with us as we all type with one arthritic finger.

Google's a start, but it can't give you practical experience. You're in the right place for that though.

So, what do you need to know first?

Our England is a garden, and such gardens are not made
By singing-'Oh how beautiful!" and sitting in the shade,
While better men than we go out and start their working lives
At grubbing weeds from gravel paths with broken dinner-knives. ~ Rudyard Kipling

Hello and welcome to the Vine. We all come in very handy when you can't show a picture to Google! Good luck and happy growing.

Thank you both. EDIT: 3 of you even..

I agree that google can't answer every query but I have to say that I think I'm generally doing pretty well thanks to my use of it! The wealth of practical experience is what I'm here for though.

My first question is going to be about repotting tomatoes and since I don't think anyone has asked quite the same question before, I'm going to start a new thread.

Hi there and welcome to the vine. Whereabouts are you located and what kind of growing space do you have?
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Welcome to the Vine Vagetarian. As Jeanie said, it would help enormously if you add your location to your profile. For most of us I think the best thing about the Vine is the company not necessarily the answers to problems, although there are plenty of members on here with lots of experience and you can usually find an answer to any question you may care to ask.

Thank you all, I have done as Jeanied and rustylady suggested.

I'm container growing in a small and entirely decked & slabbed back garden, half of which gets full sun. I have a conservatory which has been extremely useful for getting everything off to a good start.
