  • Just arrived!

    Hello guys
I'm happy to say that I have just got into GYO after many years of ESE (eating someone else's) and am looking forward to picking the brains of people with plenty of experience of growing.

I've sort of jumped in the deep end by trying to grow all sorts, mainly from a gift pack of seeds, and am having mixed success. Have already had harvest of Charlotte potatoes and carrots and runner beans are well on the way, but other stuff is not so good.

So far I've relied heavily on the internet and some ancient books I've nicked off my parents but am looking forward to discussing my problems (of the veggie variety) with real people!

It's great seeing seeds germinate and grow into something that can feed your family. Until my first crisis...............cheers

Hi Phil, welcome to the Vine. Don't knock the old books, I have a few that are really good reference, keep dipping into them from time to time. The company and advice on here are excellent though.

Thanks for the welcome's. Wasn't knocking the old books, they have been invaluable, but looking forward to finding out about the bits the books don't tell you! Thanks again

Hello and welcome! You'll fit in perfectly I'm sure and you're right, books are useful, but it's great to be able to ask questions and get advice on here from some very experienced growers. The banter is also good fun!

Hello, welcome to the vine! What's even better than seeing them germinate is seeing how large the plants grow (that always amazes me) and then when they're ready to harvest/are setting fruit - bonkers!
