I've been reading the Vine for a few months now, picking up lots of useful advice - so I thought it was about time I joined the forum
We moved into our cottage just over a year ago with no gardening experience whatsoever and since then have created raised beds in the overgrown vegetable patch (it took us a couple of days to clear it of the 5ft nettles first!), dug some new beds in another area and planted a selection of pretty much everything in the garden organic catalogue. It's been hard work but very rewarding to step out the door and just pick what we need.
Our latest addition is four pure breed hens, bought a couple weeks ago when they were 9 weeks old. They are real characters and I'm looking forward to sampling their eggs when they start laying
