  • Hiya!

    Hi all!
I'm a resident of lovely Bristol, who's recently taken on her first allotment- so far, I've grown plenty of slugs and the odd spud, in a cheerfully clueless fashion.
I wound up unexpectedly busy this summer, so didn't do as much on my plot as I would have liked (due to performing as a fire hula hooper at festivals- bet you weren't expecting that either ), but next year will always be better!

I'm interested in old and odd plant varieties, spend hours watching wildlife, and would love to keep bees and chickens- but alas, my plot is the other side of town, and they're not so practical for now.

I've found a lot of good info already on these forums just by rummaging, and am looking forward to a lot more advice and chatting- and if anyone wants to know how to grow a first class slug, feel free to ask!

Hello and a very warm welcome to the Vine. I think we are all pretty much experts at slugs, though on my garden this year it's been snails. I'm beginning to think I should have farmed them. Hope you get more growing time next year.

Hello and another very warm Yorkshire welcome from Jinny C at & Me. I have a small child's bucket with salt in it call "The Death Bucket", that's where all the slugs/snails end up in my garden. Fingers crossed for a better growing season for next year.
We have a wildlife photo thread on here you might find interesting...here's the link to it. Your more than welcome to add some of your photos, that's if you take photos of your wildlife...we loves photos on here. Look forward to chatting with ya. xx

Just the one question - how do you discover you're a good fire hula-hooper?

              Welcome aboard.

Didn't HFW set up an allotment/small holding in Brizzol?

Bees need loads of attention, you have to make sure they don't buzz off!!

Thanks for the lovely welcome! I used to be quite into photography, but I've not been taking any recently... I should take more! There's some lovely stuff in that thread.

I've been hula hooping for a few years, as well as doing silly things with fire, so it's just putting the two parts together- and yes, the hoop is the bit on fire (at least, wicks sticking off the hoop)- it's a lot worse if you're the bit on fire!
