Allotment in Jersey

On the 15th September 2010 I started setting out an allotment with thirty-six plots. Thirty of them were set out using 3in square wooden posts driven into the ground and leaving 90cm above. The posts, one in corner of the plot were to be permanent. There are 130 in total.
Once set out, the plot holders were given the ok on September 28th and they went ahead with their preparations.

The plots varie in size. The smallest 85 m2 to the largest 165 m2, they face north to south and east to west. There is one plot of 80 m2 that is used by a local school and five raised beds of 9 m2, for the less-able. .... to be continued.....

It poured here yesterday. Water for the crops

We had very little rain from feb to mid june and now we are having enough to make up for it.

The allotment dried up early April and did not recover till mid August. Everyone blamed me for the shortage of water when the well that has never ever dried up before in a hundred years'

That well had been used by a local grower for fifty years and he had never had a problem with it.

As a matter of interest I would like to know how much some of you pay in rent for your plot on the allotment.
The allotment I have set up has 36 plots including less-able ones. The three different sizes of plots are are from 85m2 to 165m2.

I would appreciate you telling me the cost in metres .... please

I grow my veg in my garden at home Reg, so can't help you with that, but there are two threads on here about Allotments, advice and finding them, so you may find the info you want on them?

£10 for a full sized one here, £5 for half a plot.
