  • Stop raining!

    Hi all,

just new to the site - been lurking reading all the wonderful information for a wee while!

However.... had my greenhouse delivered this week.... and its in the sitting room in its boxes! Wont stop raining (in scotland!) this week for us to make a start on it! Very excited!

Just to introduce myself.... been growing veg for a few years in containers in our old rented house - this year we have our own garden! Two squares of grass, on a steep slope and with a lot of overgrown shrubs and plants! It is no more! We spent the whole summer landscaping it ourselfs! we now have the greenhouse (or should i say, space for the greenhouse till it stops raining!), new shed, raised beds, pond, apple trees, a place to sit and enjoy the birdies and butterflies and nice big borders for flowers/shrubs etc! Lots of reclaimed materials and re-using materials we dug up (yes.... we actually dug up loads of real bricks and slabs!) especially since all of the sand, stones, 400bricks and 4tons of topsoil had to be taken through the house since we are in a mid terrace with no access in to the back garden!

Cant wait to grow all my veg next year and sit and chill out.... Ah.... there will never be time to chill out now!

    Cheers,
    Lynsey.

                  Welcome

I feel your pain with this rain, I've got tons to do and want to get it done soon incase we have another white winter this year again.

Congrats on the new house/garden, sounds like you've been very busy. As for the chill out time, everyone should make time to sit and enjoy their hard work

Hope you've taken plenty pics to show us, I love before and after shots.

Im in East Kilbride - just south of Glasgow!

Got the greenhouse up today! Very fiddly - major pain in the bum! But worth it! :-)

I can definately post up some before and 'nearly finished' after photos! Looking forward to seeing it next year all full of colour!

                      Happy growing!

What is this thing "rain" that you're talking about?

Hey Wayne, rain is nature's way of watering the garden. Up here, when it rains, it spends 50% falling onto the garden and 50% blowing horizontally.

Hi Lynsey, glad to hear you got the greenhouse up. You will won der how you ever grow without it next year.
Sometimes you just have to scratch that itch and get dirt under your finger nails.
