  • Hello all, I am Donny

    Hi all

My name is Donny and I am happy to have found this forum as I am a keen gardener.

I am eagerly waiting potting season to plant a load of heritage seeds I have and because nowadays I often use dried beans in my cooking, I plan to grow a load to keep me going all year.

I look forward to chatting to you and sharing ideas.

    Donny

Hey all, thankyou for the nice welcome words.

Munch, I have had great success growing lots of different type beans by making a leaf trench. I am half way doing mine as I have a patch 16feet x 36 feet in my garden, I did a trench the length of the run and make it wide enough to accommodate how many rows I plan to put in, dig to about 8 inches layered with news paper on the bottom, and fill the trench with autumn leaves, veg peelings and the like, cover over and leave till planting time, by which you should have a feast waiting for your seedlings and it also holds a lot of moisture so the plant never goes dry.

                Works every year.

                Donny
