  • Hello from Doncaster

    Hi everyone,

This is my first proper year or attempting to grow fruit and veg in my garden. Last year I had some success with a tomato plant and a chilli plant and this has inspired me. I now seem to have become a bit obsessed and have a huge collection of seeds, I can't stop buying them! So far I have:

Tomatoes - Tumbling Toms I think
    3 varieties of sweet chillies
    4 varieties of hot chillies
Butternut squash - Can't remember which variety
    Bolthardy beetroot
    Mint
    Gherkin
    Flyaway carrots
    Broad Beans
    Spring Onions

Plus I subscribed to the magazine this month, so should get 10 packs of seeds from that as well.

Also have a blackcurrant, blueberry and raspberry plant.

Not entirely sure where I am going to put all these seeds as I have a smallish garden, however only a little bit has soil (and I can't really change the garden as the house is rented). I do have one of those small polythene type greenhouses and 5 various planting sacks.

So pleased to have found this forum as I am an absolute novice and will really appreciate everyones advice when the season gets going.

    Natalie

Hello Natalie and welcome. You can grow lots of your seeds in pots, they don't need to be in the soil. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here who can advise you and will be happy to help.

Lol, funny you should say that - have been looking at all the different kinds of tomatoes today. I am hoping to encourage my fussy 3 year old to try more veg so was looking at the white ones and the stripey ones. Had to stop now, got an assignment to be in tomorrow, but looking for new stuff to grow is much more exciting!

                          Hi

Welcome from another Donny grower. Sandy soil can be a problem for us, so raised beds that you could take with you could help. If you get stuck give me a shout
