  • Hello All.

    Hello Everyone.

I have just started using this site and its brilliant, (if a little addictive).
Its so wonderful to access such knowledge from everyone who is so keen to share their wisdom.

I live in the Lake District with a husband who hasnt quite got the whole allotment idea just yet, but am working on him! Our three children all enjoy the growing experience for different reasons.. boy - to look for insects: smalll girl - to look for butterflies and grow flowers; older girl - to learn to grow

I still cant quite get over the fact that at 42 years of age I can get excited by a few vegetables.

The showing bug was caught last year and this years challenge is to try for a trophy. !

    thanks for all the advice.

Hello Emma and welcome. Once you realise that you can get excited by vegetables, there's no stopping - it'll be fruit next!!

Ah, thanks all, and am just getting the hang of fruit... the rhubarb is poking through the soil, so theres a reason to be happy!! Especially as it was planted for a small boy who loves it. Maybe one day the produce will hold as much interest as the bugs!!

Hello Emma and a very warm welcome to the Vine. If you could pop your location into your profile it helps us all to remember where you are in the country and what your climate is like. You're in good company, we all get excited about growing!

Will do. Actually I have tried unsuccessfully to put a photo of my plot on my profile. Any IT tips?

It took my OH acouple of years to catch the GYO bug, but when he realised that it could make a bit of finantial difference, he got stuck in.....so keep on keeping on!!
