  • Can't wait to get outside.

Hello - very much looking forward to the next few weeks, and itching to get out in the garden.
My main interest (other than tasty, interesting tomatoes and herbs) are flowers for cutting - mainly annuals that I start from seed each year.

I know that lots of people think that the whole point of a garden is to grow some delicious good food that is different and far better than anything you can buy in the Supermarket. And, I do agree with you on this.

But - I also get equal pleasure from a fresh bunch of flowers that is similarly far removed from the offerings in shops and florists.
I just love to be able to give a friend or neighbour a bunch of something from my garden.

Also of course, I am encouraging a host of bees, butterflies and other wildlife into my very overgrown old fashioned garden.

I know what you mean! It's half term next week and I'd planned to replant a herbaceous bed. Only trouble it's covered in snow! Perhaps the end of the week... Am also moving allotment plot - snow bound too. It'll happen sometime I guess.

Your garden sounds delightful, farendwoman. I mix up the veg with the flowers too to get the best of both worlds.

For some of us, we can't wait to stay indoors! I have students that are totally obsessed with pruning and have been given about 20 fruit trees that haven't been pruned in 10 years to lick back into shape.

I keep saying 'ok, we'll do half an hour and then go indoors' and 2 hours later I finally get my way.

Would you believe that, the coldest day of the school year when it was -2 out doors, happened to be the day that they worked straight through and 'forgot' to take their break.

Welcome Farendwoman, i love the sound of your garden.. What flowers do you regularly grow for cutting then? I had a new bed made last year which i hope to use for some cut flowers but don't really know much about flowers!

Hello there farendwoman. Our garden is devided into two parts, the veggie plot and the flower and fruit tree garden. I take care of the veggie garden and the grass (to rough to be called a lawn) and Mrs Snuffer takes care of the flowers.

I too can't wait to get outside, the veggie garden still needs some parts of it digging over and there's even more to do on the lottie. Everywhere is still covered in snow so will have to wait for a few more days yet.
