  • New to gardening and keeping chickens

    Hi all,

Got my first garden last year - total mess so I've been busy clearing it (over 30 leylandii and overgrown shrubs) and preparing the soil. I've now got 4 beds 6ft wide by 12ft length so need to start planning what I'm putting in them, wont be doing too much this year.

Have already got some soft fruits sorted out - raspberries, blackcurrants, redcurrant, blueberry, gooseberry and strawberries and I'm hoping to get a couple of dwarf fruit trees in the next couple of weeks.

Lots of containers full of herbs and salad stuff and a few for my preschool children to grow stuff and learn along with me.

In the middle of building up my coop and run and hope to have 6 chooks in a couple of weeks.

Saving pennies for a 8 x 10 greenhouse but doubt I'll get it till next year

Have a 2m x 10m border at front of house that I'm trying to fill with cottage garden type flowers.

So new to this and sooooo much to learn but I'm going to love every minute of it as it's what I've always wanted.

No doubt I'll be pestering everyone for advice now that I've found this fantastic forum, lol.

    Speak to you all soon

My pleasure - there'll be more of us along soon. They're probably asleep (but don't tell them I said so!).
One thing you could do is add your location (where mine says Sunny South Wales - a joke today). We find it helps to know when trying to provide answers.
