Hi Janie. Welcome to the Vine. Try this link for excellent advice http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...ment_5573.html

Nice to see a grape from Plymouth. I was born there and grew up in a little village on the edge of the moors.

Welcome janie36. Welcome to the vine.......

Slowly but surely does it . Cover up most of it and dig out perennial roots a metre at a time then plant up.

Have a look at more detailed advice using e search. Good luck........you will enjoy bringing your allotment back into production.

      Loving my allotment!

Hello Janie and welcome. As the others have said, take it slowly, bit by bit and don't think you can do it all immediately. The rewards of eating your own veggies make the initial hardwork worth while.

Hi Janie welcome....RL has already given you an excellent link . If you can get your hands on lots of cardboard that's useful for cover as well (and you can plant throught it )

Rustylady that is a very helpful link, thanks for drawing my attention to it (just got my new allotment and a bit bewildered where to start! Some very good ideas and tips there!)

Hi Janie36, another Plymothian here. When I was growing up most people had waste ground at the end of their roads; they were called bomb sites. We played on them then.

As everyone has said, little and often. Oh, and how I envy your growing climate,
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

As an aside Rustylady, what village did you live in? I lived in Cornwood for a while when I left school.
