  • A little Manchester wave

    Hi everyone.

Brand new to the site so thought I would pop in here and say Hello. I am from Manchester, UK and have a rather small garden that has been work in progress for the past 5 years or so. Recently bought myself a second hand greenhouse that is like my new den where no one but me is allowed in I have the most miniscule pond you have ever seen but it has a resident frog living in it and its enough for him so I am happy with that.

I grow a bit of my own veg in a teeny veg patch and this is my second proper year at giving it a go. Last year I planted anything I could get my hands on and needless to say, the majority of it failed! I love to grow my own sweet peppers but have yet to have a really successful crop. Any tips on that? Although having the greenhouse now should help with a bit of luck.

I share my garden with numerous pets and welcome all wildlife in. An avid bird watcher and photographer. So thats me. Nice to meet you all. Glad to be here.

Welcome to the vine Shen, a greenhouse should help your peppers no end. Manchester?.....I'll forgive you......

Hi Shen, you sound as if you have a good set up there. Welcome.
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I see we have a few cheeky ones on here too.. Bigmallly! lol Thanks for the tip on the peppers Bren. My greenhouse is unheated but I am hoping I won't need to worry about that until winter.. if at all. There's so much info on this site, I feel that its going to get rather addictive!

did you buy GYO earlier in the year and get the free pepper seeds??? Mine are coming along nicely in the unheated coldframe <err, guess coldframes are unheated by name.... EEK!>

No I didn't buy the GYO magazine, as until yesterday, I hadn't even heard of this site But I shall certainly be considering a subscription now! Cold frame .. hahaha.. thanks again everyone for the mad, cheeky, and yet wonderfully warm welcome. I think I shall fit in quite well here. Certainly with the mad bit anyway

Welcome aboard Shen, from just down the road in sunny Bury (though it's been gloriously wet today).
Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

I really would like to get out in the garden a bit. Got some new grand ideas from this site and really would like to put them into practice!
