I moved to Portugal with my family from Wales a few years ago and, although we always had a garden in the UK, we are now having to learn again completely from scratch as the soil and climate are so different.
We have bees, donkeys, chickens, geese and muscovies, and are trying to grow a forest garden full of fruit and nut trees and as many edible plants as possible, as well as a more 'normal' veg garden. I've been learning all about permaculture and the idea of designing a garden so that it becomes as self sustaining as possible, using perennials and soil building techniques so that irrigation and fertilisation needs are kept to a minimum, and I'm trying to gradually implement all those ideas to see what works and what doesn't.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and sharing ideas and experiences with you.
