  • Hello, Newbie from Warrington

    Hello to all,

I'm a busy working mum with not much garden space for my veggies. Been using good advice on this website but never posted until today.
Enjoying growing tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, lettuce, peas. courgettes, strawberries and butternut squash. Not so happy with my raddishes and beetroots, always leggy.
Been told its good to talk to the plants, beats talking to the wall.

Welcome Ms Warrington, I have a daughter that moved up that way in February.

Looks like we are growing pretty much the same thing except radish as none of us like it. I love butternut squash but never had much success with it so growing a couple of different types this year, though I'm lucky enough to have an allotment. Maybe you can give me some tips.

I talk to my plants and cats more than I talk to people...they don't answer back.

Hello WL and welcome from me too. I talk to my plants all the time - it bores the greenfly so much they clear off!

Morning warringtonlady! Welcome to the vine. I dont have a huge amount of space either, but keep pinching little bits of lawn off the OH! I'm growing butternut for the first time this year, so I may be coming to you for advice!
As for talking to plants, you're in good company here! I think we're all guilty of doing that!
If it comes from a plant, eat it. If it was made in a plant, don't!!

              Hello and welcome, WarringtonLady.
If I state that I talk to myself, I will expect the men in white coats to arrive shortly.
              Therefore, welcome!

Welcome - enjoy talking to the plants - and anyone else who will listen - we are quite good at that here (listening, that is)!

Hello WarringtonLady I'm new too and, like you, followed the tips and advice before finally finding my voice.

Btw our cat answers back but the plants just give me baleful looks.
