I'm a newbie and from Cambridgeshire. I've recently took up gardening and love it. I'm don't know very much but love to learn. I love growing herbs and cooking with them (of course!). I'm excited to have joined the community today. I need to find my way around the website.

I have a couple of questions but I'm not sure where to post them exactly - so please forgive me if 'here' is inappropriate. I am frantically searching for the DVD of a gardening series called ' Wartime Kitchen and Garden'. I was living abroad at the time this was broadcast on TV. If anyone here could help or point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.

I also have a question about drying and storing dried herbs - does anyone have any good tips on how to do this. I have tons of sage and oregano that needs to be cut back.

Hi there Diva - welcome to the vine. I don't think they ever released the 'Wartime Kitchen and garden' on DVD or video - I once taped them on old video tape but 'someone' taped over with a war film!

You may be lucky and find them on the History channel or Blighty or one of those.

Hello Diva, I'm no help with the DVD either. There is a section on herbs and also cooking, so I'm sure the drying of herbs is in one or the other. Haven't thought of looking for that yet, since my garden is in hibernation atm.

As for the herb-drying. I've not done it, but I think you pick when they're dry and warm, if you get a sunny day or two bind with twine, and hang somewhere safe and dry to let the air circulate round the bundles - eaves of the shed or garage, for example. Good luck!
