  • Hello: new gardener here!

    Hi everyone!

I'm fairly new to gardening, this is the first year I've grown anything other than a couple of tomatoes- I'm so excited. I've got a fairly small veg patch in my garden in Berkshire which seems to grow weeds faster than I can pull them out!

My aim is to grow fruit and vegetables that I wouldn't be able to find easily in the supermarket, this year I've planted yellow cougettes, tayberry canes and a morello cherry tree along with some more standand peas and tomatoes. I've got my eye on about 20 varieties of heirloom tomato for next year though!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and asking you my silly beginners questions!

    Hi Renny. Welcome!
I'm a bit of a newbie too. Dug up most of the OH's precious lawn (much to his horror ) to dedicate to veggies.
I'm not that good at giving advice (yet!), but there's loads on here that are and everyone is lovely, so I'm sure they wont mind sharing their knowlege with you
If it comes from a plant, eat it. If it was made in a plant, don't!!

ello Renny ! Welcome to the vine. Growing your own is certainly a slippery slope!

This time in a couple years, it'll be chickens, home brew and eyeing up small holdings!

Welcome to the vine Renny, there is nothing quite like a silly question. Sometimes it's the only ones I can answer if my fingers are fast enough.

Hi there Renny. You'll soon be planting anything you can get your hands on just because you can!
And any silly questions are bound to be in someone else's head too, so no silly questions.

Can't guarantee the quality of the answers though ....

                        Hello Renny,

This is a fab forum for beginners as I have found.
You will love it here as much as you love eating you own home grown )

Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if green vegetables smelled as good as bacon.
