Reminds me of Debbie McGhee being interviewed and being asked the question:
What does a lovely young woman see in a fat old bald multi millionaire like Paul Daniels - hmm let me think????

Far be it for me to disparage any member of the opposite sex but I think they have a disease called the 'spend gene' for which there is no known cure - I also think their mothers bring them up to believe in the 'money tree' for when I told a neighbour I had one in my front garden she asked if she could have a cuttingLast edited by Sheneval; 22-01-2014, 10:24 PM.Endeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

Dotty,
I'm afraid that whilst that is a nice thought, your husband is only allowed to grow the tree, but the tree cannot belong to him for obvious reasons - he might consider the money belongs exclusively to him and Government Legislation requires that all monies or wealth owned by a man automatically transfers to his wife as soon as she begins wearing the trousers - this was the first act of Parliament after the Feminists won power - you must have missed itEndeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

Hmm Shen I hope Mrs Shen doesn't read this or if she does, she responds appropriately.
Thank goodness I have never relied on anyone else for money! In fact I was the main breadwinner when my OH was alive.
And I grow parsley well!Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Jeanie,
Leaving aside my feeble attempt at humour
Everyone lives differently according to their own needs, circumstances and beliefs - my wife stopped working when my daughter was on the way and did not start again until she was going to secondary school - fortunately I had a number of promotions during this period and my wife was a good money manager so, whilst not wealthy, we were able to survive comfortably, by me stopping smoking, getting rid of my car and having holidays mainly in Scarborough which were very cheap as we always went to the same landlady and the more we went the cheaper it got Eventually we bought a car when my daughter was 17 and wanted to learn to drive.
My daughter stopped when my first grandson was on the way and will probably start again once no.3 goes to school - fortunately, if anything, she is an even better manager of money than her mother so lives without debt and can manage to run a car, and have 2 or 3 cheap holidays a year. Neither she nor her husband smoke and he only drinks on holidays etc.
I was lucky that my health always allowed me to work hard over many years to support my family which was what I believe was my main role in life - unfortunately some people are not so fortunate, whereas others have a different outlook in life - the latter is fine by me - I live by my own code and accept they have the right to do likewiseEndeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

Haha, yeah as you say I must have missed that, too young!
But I like what my mum used to say:-
'What's his is mine, and what's mine, is my own'.
and if my husband were to own the tree, it would die for sure, he'd forget to look after it!

Spent over 5 hours at the allotment in the blazing sunshine but only managed just over an hours work as there were a few fellow plot holders on site and I was approached immediately on arrival by one who wished to complain about harassment by a Committee member. This led to discussions about last Tuesday's meeting which continued with 5 other plot holders over the next few hours.
However did manage to get wooden edge one side of a small bed - hope I can manage the other side tomorrow.Endeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

Another bed done today
Found a dangerous tree just outside the plot - it is broken and supported only by being interlocked by its neighbour - if it were to fall will damage the fence and could seriously injure or even kill anyone it hit playing around the kid's area - reported to Secretary for onward transmission to Council.
I will place a fence round the area if I can get up tomorrow weather permitting.Endeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

Trouble is my Plot us the first one, so everyone has to go past me, and so I probably get even less done, maybe I should hide in my shed!DottyR
