I'm away with work at the moment so my Mrs has sent me some pics from the plot to keep my spirits up!

Getting ready to plant up another seasons worth of cheap, healthy veg!
Last year (my first proper full year) was great! I'm away with work a fair bit so last year my Mrs was able to be on the receiving end of most of the produce. With the exception of cucumber and a few tomatoes she reckons that she didn't buy any veg for 6 months last year... Brilliant!
Looking forward to doing even better this year. Slightly complicated by the fact that some of my winter crops are still in the ground. Last year I started with a blank canvas so planting was easy. This year is testing my grey matter!

Thanks VC.
Chooks were quite quiet yesterday and finally came out of their house into the run shortly before dusk to stretch their legs and have a bite to eat and some water. Then they trooped back inside!
This morning they were all out within a few minutes and seem happier / calmer. They've already made a good job of aerating and fertilising the lawn so we've moved the coop to a new bit of lawn for tomorrow!
I think i'm going to have to modify the perches in the house though as they are very low and quite cramped so at least one seems to be sleeping in the nesting boxes. I've read that the perches should be higher than the nesting boxes so will need to get my toolbox out. Our neighbour is giving us some 7'x4' metal framed mesh panels to make a permanent run so sometime in the next couple of weeks they will be able to really stretch their legs! Hopefully before then i can start letting them out to investigate the garden!
Unsurprisingly no eggs yet but i can't help checking!

Nice to be back on the forum after a winter hibernation. Everyone's posts make me really excited about the new planting season... must have more restraint than last year. Got a bit carried away and planted a few things (tomatoes particularly) a bit early... MUST RESIST!!!
(Got my spuds ordered though!)

Hello Stan,
I am glad you have found us as the members on this site are not only very knowledgeable but also very friendly. Just ask away and somebody - probably lots of somebodies will have an answer for you.
I like the pics - the photo taking has put you in good stead for all the baby shots you will be taking this year.I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison

Broccoli, PSB, peas, peppers, purple cauliflower, tomatoes, and a bag of spuds all growing away merrily! Currently away with work so very excited to see how they've all got on in my absence!
Got a load more seeds to plant when I get back at the end of the week too!
Love it!

And yep - our daughter just received a rake and a spade at Easter to add to her trowel, dibber, hand rake, tool bag and other gardening paraphenalia!!! Two weeks ago she helped with the "diiigggiiing" of the new fruit cage! She's also got over her fear of the chickens after one or two of them mistook her tiny little fingers for worms!!!
Poor little chooks don't know what has hit them now she's growing so fast! We're about to buy two more chooks and plan to let her choose them.Last edited by Stan79; 13-04-2015, 10:17 AM.
