  • Ello ello!

Hi all! I'm Anna and i'm growing from Bristol mainly in containers at the moment but loving every second. I have some toms, dwarf beans, runners, cucumbers and chillis on the go at the moment, my little finger carrots failed to germinate sadly unfortunately my mum accidently binned the lot of my seeds the other week thinking it was rubbish (they were in a big jiffy bag) I only discovered this today! So i'm going to use this as an excuse to go on seed spree and i'll be using this forum to research all kinds of new weird and wonderful varieties of veg i've never tried growing.

I've been lurking this forum for many months so thought it was time to join up

Hi Anna and welcome. There are several Bristol Grapes on here and I'm sure they'll say Hello!
Mums, eh!! Never mind, its a good excuse to buy more seed - but stay away from the weird and wonderful James Wong range as the seed numbers and germination rates don't seem to be that good.
Have you thought about an allotment? I'm sure someone posted about vacant plots in Bristol recently!

        Thankyou Nicos!

Veggie - Oh boy, I will definitely make sure to stay away from that range then, thankyou for the warning! I have bought my past seeds mainly from Nicky's Nursery and Real Seeds as i've found they stock some of the more unusual varieties. All germination has been excellent, aside from those blasted carrots!

I have been seriously considering an allotment, I do have potentially a wee bit of room in my back garden - useless grass! but it is on quite a slope, I was looking into terraced beds but an allotment does sound much more appealing. I wasn't aware of the free plots, I will look into it

Cheers all for the lovely welcome.

VC - Thanks for the link, that looks like a must. I will contact them.. Exciting!! Nicky's is fab, never had a seed not come up. Even the ones I bought over 4 years ago! I do wonder how long they would have plodded on for. Which reminds me, those darn carrots I was cursing earlier? They ALL came up today, I couldn't believe it. I was ready to have a rummage and potentially use the pot for something else.

bearded bloke - Bookmarked! I predict a very large dent in my bank account in my near future
