Delighted to be on this forum. My husband and I garden in western New York State in the US. We visited the UK in 2007, enjoying western Scotland with a cousin and then touring Cornwall and the fabulous gardens. I am quite taken with the "gardening culture" in the UK. We live on a 100 acre farm and garden about 4 acres including ornamental gardens (mostly shade), veggies (which we call our "allotment") and fruit including pears, apples, mulberries, raspberries and blueberries. We live in a challenging location just east of the Great Lakes, Lake Erie, which brings us lots of wind and LOTS of snow. The concept of the winter garden here is 3 feet of snow.
I love Grow Your Own and look forward to it every month. I am looking forward to reading the advice of the other GYO readers.
BTW- I am just 2nd generation American. My father's family is British!
