  • Hi everyone

    Hi from Edinburgh

I'm just embarking on my first year of chilli growing along with a couple of pepper plants, so far think its going ok?!

All exept one is growing in soil. I have a paper lantern chilli plant growing in dwc all is going good. Any tips hints or advice would be hugely apreciated.

Hi Currymonster and welcome to the vine.

As VC says, loads of chilli buffs here. Personally have not had a single chilli plant produce even a single fruit since we moved here. Had loads of success when we lived in Greenock though.

            Soil, or compost?
And what's the other one growing in? (what's dwc?)

                Hello and welcome.

Good luck with the chilli growing - mine just get bunged outside in the garden to face the slugs alone, so I'm no help. But yours do look much better

Nice pictures - although I'm not sure you should be putting Maltesers around your pots

They are growing in compost being fed once a week. The paper lantern chilli plant is in deep water culture. A bucket filled with water with a fish tank pump creating bubbles. I have never used this system ever. I'm using canna vega to get some growth on it and going to switch to canna Flores to flower either today or tomorrow. I have no idea if it will work just keeping my fingers crossed and riding my luck tbh. I'm really impressed so far with this way of growing up to now as its only 5 weeks old and I think it's flying away. All others in the picture were started in February.

The plants are golden cayenne pepper, 2 chilli plants from seed from chilli from the coop from popadom. A pepper from coop pepper seed. 2 banana chilli plant seedlings ( to over winter) a scotch bonnet (disappointed booted in the garden). A paper lantern in deep water culture the one that takes most work but has most of my attention. I have no ph meters no ec meters nothing fancy just doing what I think is right and getting lucky. It's crazy watching it from a morning standing up ready to recieve light. When I come home from work it's basking then it goes to sleep when the sun goes down.
