Hi, I am a long time lurker and reader of everybody's news but first time poster. I feel like I know you all already!!
I thought I would join up as you seem a knowledgeable lot who will be able to answer all my questions and fill me with inspiration. I have questions about my own growing (that's one for later!) but my most pressing issue at the mo is that I have agreed to take on the school prayer garden during the hols and said (foolishly) that I would have a lovely garden ready for September. Having had a look I now see that it is a huge task - mega overgrown but has potential. There are lots of mature shrubs/bushes but my vision was to grow as many edibles as I can and will run lunchtime clubs with the children maintaining the garden and being able to take home produce.
So! Have begun saving my own seed to use at school, have begun rooting my strawberry runners and that's about it. Apart from the back breaking task of clearing the jungle I am in need of ideas of what to grow, how to do it very cheaply and what will the children enjoy doing at gardening clubs? What can we do during the winter months? Craft activities maybe? Sorry for such a long first post, I promise to try and curb the waffle in future. Thanks for reading.
