Hello from Whitley Bay

Just saying hi !

I used to grow fruit and vegetables many years ago, but due to space restrictions now have just stuck with tomatoes in the greenhouse.

Luckily (fingers crossed) I am near to getting an allotment after over 4 years on the waiting list, so have been studying up on all things 'garden related' on t'internet.

I only hope, if I do get the allotment, I am notified earlier, rather than later. I've seen Youtube clips and forum comments about folk getting an allotment in late spring or early summer, often meaning the growing season is lost.

For those folk who don"t know where Whitley Bay is, well it's on the north east coast, about 10 miles to the east of Newcastle upon Tyne. For those of a certain age, some of the 'Whatever Happened to The Likely Lads' scenes were filmed here in the 1970's.

Welcome wbmkk - I know well where Whitley Bay is, my sis lived there many years ago before emigrating to the States I remember there being lots of seaweed on the rocky beach - maybe you can use some when you get your lotty.

Welcome to the Vine. Have you been told you are close to the top of a list now or are you just hopeful? Most lists seem to move most when the next year's rent is due. Ours is due end March so we have new people in the Spring. Could be worth finding out when the allotment rent runs from for the site you are waiting for. Fingers crossed!
