Welcome to the vine As you have already seen everyone here is really friendly with plenty of useful advice.
I have a problem with buttercups they are just everywhere. Was thinking of raised bedding just like you but think I am just going to have to knuckle down and weed them out. Lots of pros and cons with raised beds.
