Just popped on to say hello!

I got my first allotment towards the end of last year, and it promptly bucketed down all winter, so couldnt do much at the time. BUT I have now managed to clear the weeds and dig out some beds. Very clayey so its hard going. Its looking a little shaggy compared to my neighbours lovely plots but they have been very encouraging I think there are a few other ladies on the site who are doing it on their own but havent met them yet.

I am hoping to plant some spuds which I have been chitting since ages, but hardly anything has sprouted! They have been in eggboxes in a light window.. should they be in the dark? Any suggestions gratefully received! Thanks.

Welcome to the vine George. You are right in chitting your tatties in the light but chitting is not essential. Maincrop tatties don't need chitting at all so all depends what variety you have. If they don't chit by planting time, just put them in anyway, they will catch up.
