Hi, I've just joined the forum. I'm very new to both gardening and growing fruit and veg. I'm hoping to get lots of tips here!

Hello Starbug and welcome. Do you have a garden or an allotment, or maybe just a windowbox Whatever you have, don't be afraid to ask questions about it!!
It would help us if you could add your location to your profile please. The climate varies so much throughout the UK - you may not even live here!!

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Wow, thank you all for the warm welcome!
Just to tell you a bit about myself - I live in Dorset and I have a small back garden, which I'm currently redesigning a bit. It was overgrown with ivy and tall trees; now that the trees have been cut back (thankfully, before the winter gales!), I've cleared a lot of theivy and put some borders in. I also want to build a rockery at some point.
As far as veg is concerned, I'm growing them in containers. I have a plastic, stacking potato growpot, which I'm using to grow Duke of Yorks. You earth ip the potatoes by adding plastic collars to the original pot. so far I've added the second plastic collar and I think the third one will be needed in the next week or two.
I've also got some carrots and tumbling tom tomatoes in my very small, polythene greenhouse. And I'm hoping to grow Tom Thumb peas in a growbag, using a growbag frame that I got at the Edible Garden show. I've never grown veg before, but I've really got the bug now - it's very exciting!
I'm very pleased to meet you all and I'm looking forward to learning a lot.
