I'm new here and new to gardening.

I'm mainly interested in GYO

Got a largish (290 square metres) south facing allotment in my home town of Colne in Lancashire in March of this year, so I have had it about 2 months now, and very proud of it I am too !

The plot had not been grown on for about 3 years, so I inherited a falling down shed and a field of grass and weeds and 3 baths.

My fellow allotmenteers are a friendly bunch and have been very welcoming, with lots of advice and a few freebies as well, such as lengths of guttering, excess seedlings like broad beans, carrots, tomatoes, and even a double glazed window frame, which I made into a cold frame and is proving great at germinating all my veg seeds.

No doubt I will be back for lots of advice.

Hi new to the vine also, however spot on with the nice people you have met I can honestly say it was the same for me two years ago.

So many nice people who to say now are good friends and sharers across all what they have.

Why throw it out if some one can use it

Hi Mick

Well you certainly have a good challenge/project to get on with there.

as i have quoted on other messages i spent at least twenty minutes every time i go weeding and just digging over a few spade fulls so not to get sickened and after two years not fully on top but a great sense of personal achievement and two stone lighter. I think of it as my free gym which before my allotment paid 40 quid a month but do not need it now gardening is fit and healthy and the produce collected is worth the wait over some of the garbage you buy in the shops
