Hello all, my name is Tony.
My Dad has been trying to show me how to grow veg - he's had an allotment for most of his 85 years!
But, you know how it is when father's try and teach their sons. He knows what he's doing and me as a beginner and late starter (I'm 53) knows 'nowt'!
So, I thought I'd better shape myself and find out a bit and this seems like a good place to start.
    Thanks

Hello Tony & welcome to the vine. Almost the same age as me when I got the bug.

                    Thanks all for the welcome.
My wife and me moved into our new (very old) house in 2012 and my Dad, who lives a couple of miles away, has established a small garden growing mainly vegetables - beetroot, beans, sweetcorn - and a polytunnel with tomatoes, lettuce (my first grow), cabbage and carrots.
He's wanting to hand it all over to me next year but I'm reluctant to let him give up altogether as I think it keeps him going. We'll probably end up me doing it all and him sat instructing! Anyway, I'll be having a good look around the site and probably asking loads of daft questions but hey.....thanks again.

I doubt it - he's not easily 'radicalised' believe me.....and his methods seem to work ok Thanks again all for the welcome.
