  • Hello fellow addicts!

Frustrated gardener for years as never had the time or the space >>>>>>>>now its play time as I have retired and decided on a new adventure in France. A friend once told me that the biggest health threat to anyone (particularly when they retire) is the armchair and you can either settle for stirring cocoa or stirring liquid fertilizer or cement, so I chose the latter.
Have a veg plot within a large garden and this is our second season; within the plot we have raised beds and a poly-tunnel. Made lots of mistakes last year, planting too many plants and too close; so this year have tried to plant in succession....so we will see how we fare. Soil here is friable and fantastic, so very lucky, I am in Normandy so fairly heavy rainfall but so worth it as the land is lush and green. The veg plot is within the orchard part of the garden and late last year we planted an avenue of fruit trees, mirabelle, damson, pear, apple and apricot...............pear not doing well at all the rest are thriving; I will post a photo as I can not identify the problem......hopefully someone can help (basic signs are leaf drop after the edges of the leaves have gone brown, can not see any mite or insect)
The rest of the garden is laid to lawn with flower beds; this year planted some lovely David Austin roses ........Darcey Bussell, William and Katherine and Shropshire Lad, of which DB has the most fabulous perfume; but still early days for all three.
I garden without chemicals so am keen to learn how to make use of what is available.
Look forward to new ideas, tips and hints and to talking to people who share the same passion.
