Hi, I am a complete novice in the garden. My claim to fame is 'see a plant and it dies'! I visited my mother-in-law in New Zealand at Christmas and she is a lovely lady who is 88 years and still does her own plot in her garden. We had lots of lovely tasting lettuce, carrots, courgettes and potatoes. When I return home decide I should do this.
I already had a small patch in the back garden and my husband said if I was interested then I had to get the soil ready, so fitness came into play. I started reading all about growing vegetables and herbs. So started with seeds in the lounge and chitting potatoes. Well to cut a long story short I have planted my potato seeds and they are growing in their rows. Pansies and sweet peas are growing (present from my daughter for Mother's Day). I have planted beetroot, spinach, carrots, spring onions, lettuces. I have stacking pots and containers which I have carrots, spring onions, strawberries, herbs and lettuces. I also did potatoes in black bags which the foliage has appeared. I am so excited but I also know that I may get failures but here goes. I have also got courgettes and tomato seeds on the go which seem to be growing. I am doing French Marigold as I read they should grow near tomato and potato plants. I think I have gone over the top from doing nothing in the garden to growing all the above.
The best thing is I am having so much fun.
