Was googling for info on compost and came across this site. Been lurking and digging deeper(pun intended) and found it a good general resource for the garden and it looks like a bit of a laugh so I thought I'd join.

We are not beginners in the garden but arent experts either, we grew veg for 3 years in our previous house, moved around for 3 years before settling where we are now for good last year. Im from Liverpool but we actually live in Czech Rep on a small farm, with about an acre of land. Have started with one good sized plot and will dig another couple plus greenhouse when time/funds allow. Will also get a couple of sheep next year mostly so we dont have to cut the bloody grass so much but also to use the manure in the garden. Going for a purely organic approach and trying to be self sufficient, so far only seeds from Real Seeds have been brought in and some local passed on beans and tomatoes, own compost and nettle fertiliser plus future manure to be used - doing it the hard way instead of dodgy fertilisers and hybrid seeds.

Hoping to get some good advice on composting and growing stuff and to offer it where I can.

Cheers! We are growing Grushovka Tomatoes & Tomatillos, Onion, Leek, Courgette, Hokkaido Pumpkin, Basil, Lettuce, Coriander, Czech Chillies, Parsley(root&leaf), carrots, beans, peas, cauliflower, broccoli, Swedes. We also have peach, apple, plum trees and something called "Ringler" never saw it in the UK and dont know what its called in English, its a bittersweet green or yellow plum/peach thing.

Well spotted. Picked up the nickname due to being generally woolly and having a placid demeanor, also had a spell as a house husband after a well timed redundancy and house sale hence the domesticated bit.

Its hard to quantify these days. 3-4 years ago used to have snow up to the knee for 2-3 months a year -20C, now it rarely gets over the ankle or below -5C for a couple of weeks(we also ski here only 1 hr from Prague). Springs arrived with a vengeance in mid March getting near 20C, now late April or May. Summers seem wetter too but still a bit hotter then the UK usually have 4 weeks or so of +30C or +35C. Tomatoes do well outdoors.

Love the sound of your plans - but, where are the chickens? Great for producing manure and, of course, eggs - and meat if you eat it!
If I had my way, I'd make everyone keep a couple of hens - they should be available on prescription

Strongly considering them in future, the mrs isnt a fan some food allergies, eggs, milk but I eat almost half a dozen eggs a week. Farmer next door has them so dont worry they are always running around our land, he gives me surplus eggs for free and honey as I let him keep his farm gear in part of my barn. Turkey, Geese and ducks around as well. Im worried in case the cat goes for them but so far she steers clear of them.

Sounds like a good deal - free eggs and honey from your neighbour.
My cat was scared of the chooks as they used to chase her! The dogs are brave when they're the other side of the fence, but not when the chooks are wandering around them.
