Hi all, I've been a bit of a stalker around here for a few months but decided to sign up.
I live in the middle of Ireland after moving here 20 years ago. I've always been growing something of some sort since I was a kid. Before I moved to my current house I had a huge garden with a veg plot, tunnel, fruit garden, herbs and orchard with limited success but since moving the best I've got so far is herbs.
I am lucky enough to have another huge garden of which 90% is south facing but a bit of an odd shape. My interests lie in growing everything, I love the idea of self sufficiency as far as food goes, at the moment, with two small kids, I just want to grow volumes of fresh food in the hope it will save a few pennies and educate the kids!!!!
I enjoy cooking with the food I've grown and making preserves and other condiments. My education is in horticulture, I'm perfectly happy with shrubs, trees and building a garden but the fruit and veg world is a whole different kettle of fish!!!
I'm looking forward to sharing my ups and downs with you all and maybe I could help some of you out too!
