  • Bit of a late hello.

As I've been a member what will be a month tomorrow, I didn't realize I actually joined the day I took official ownership of my allotment. I put my name down years ago for numerous allotment lists around where I live, this allotment is a new site and the allotments are small mines around 18 x 36 feet but you get what you can take.

My family thinks I'm having a mid life crisis as in the past few months I've sold my car purchased a van turned it into a camper, grown a beard and gone vegetarian. I look at it I'm living the second half of my life how I wanted to live the first half but always went the "normal" path or the way people told me to live, maybe I'm standing up for myself who knows.

Done a bit of growing but always in containers and a small scale. Had good results with herbs, potatoes and radish this season so looking forward to a bigger scale and choice.

I am normal, well kind off, we are veggies, OH has the beard but i have good amount of fluff!
We also have a motorhome that we travel along with a number of animals and plants, we are going away tomorrow and taking 10kilos of olives just to wash daily.
We do get strange looks but i can bet most people would love it

Good luck with everything and do not care what others think as long as you are not hurting anything/body
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

Hi there and welcome to the Vine!
We went the same way in our 50's
Packed in our jobs and moved to France!
Not veggies though...just once or twice a week.

You'll love the GYO route...just be prepared to be thwarted by Nature from time to time

I think I look at it more in the way of 'what can we put into life' rather than 'what can I take'

Hello CM - if you are happy what you are doing then whoop whoop.

It sounds like you are going to fit in just fine with the ebb and flow that makes up the Vine.
