    Hi Mike - welcome back!
    You have been busy but its a shame that your grand plan of growing a carrot didn't materialise! You'll be able to grow rows of them if you get an allotment.
    I have 4 dogs and they don't wee on the veg. They've learnt not to go on the veg beds - but they are rather partial to eating the cabbages and strawberries, in fact most things - especially soft fruit.
    Did you consider planting any fruit trees/bushes in your garden. They'd be safe from dog's wee unless you have Great Danes
    Good luck with the allotment - hope its a good one and ready to grow
