  • Hi there I'm new!

Hello all! I am living in London but originally from Spain. I started gardening round about 6 years ago when I was already living in the UK and now is my passion.

I work as a gardener therapist for patients with metal health problems which means that I not always get everything done in my work's garden.
There is also a garden where I live but it belongs to the landlady who is very restrictive with the things I grow so again I don't get to grow what I'd like in most of the seasons. ..For example she doesn't want to see vegetables in the garden, but I camouflage them between shrubs and other plants or grow vegetables with pretty flowers eg: beans and generally she doesn't notice

I love being involved in community gardens and I started a couple in the area I used to live where there was a buzzing activity related to urban food growing and community gardens but I moved 2 years ago and there isn't much of that here.

I also like to read countless gardening books especially in organic gardening and soil science and studying gardening qualifications every now and then.

I could go on for ages writing about me but I think that's a pretty good introduction about myself
I hope to make some friends here and learn and share knowledge as much as possible with you guys!

Thanks for the warm welcoming greetings!

I'll make a list of things I plan to grow this year or are already there and try to remember everything :
sweet corn, brussels sprouts, pointy cabbage, strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes, chillies, aubergines, jerusalem artichokes, oca, rocket, lettuces, cherries, pears, apricots, peaches, plums, black currants, red currants, pink currants, 4 berries, raspberries, loganberries, gooseberries, wineberries, rhubarb, asparagus, parsnips, carrots, beetroot, chard, cucamelons, kale, spinach, oriental salad leaves, garlic, leeks, broad beans, french beans, peas, courgettes, squash, pumpkins, physalis, dudi, amaranth, cucumbers, onions, edible flowers, dye plants, the usual herbs..
In general everything that is edible and doesn't require a lot of pest management
For example I tend not to grow cauliflowers or broccoli because pigeons love them and is a pain to make cages to protect them. Same applies to the combination of squirels and strawberries although this year I try to grow them in the polytunnel.. let's see if they found them!

Also I every year try with new unusual crops, eg: cucamelons, oca, .. This year I have tree-tomatoes, perilla, naranjilla and melon-pear on the list
