Hi to all
I am Paul living in Kent and I'm about to take on my first garden. Well, thats not entirely true. I am about to take on my first garden that I want to work on.
Gardening has never really interested me before, I struggled to get enthusiastic even about mowing the grass! This has now changed with the new house we are about to rent.
We dont take possession until June but I am already seeing what I can do and where I can plant things.
I am a total novice and will be asking many mundane questions to you seasoned green fingered types!

Do you have any ideas of what you'd like to grow in your new garden?
We lurve questions and are always happy to answer them - although we don't always agree on the answer

As its rented, we cant go too crazy but firstly I'd like a go at veg.
There is a small patch maybe 6ft x 2 ft beside the shed that is cultivated. I will also be making planters and using containers.
Simple ones to start with, I have just acquired 6 tomato plants and I'd like to grow peas, carrots, sweetcorn, broccoli, raspberries and parsnips.
I also want to make the lawn look decent eventually...

Dwarf beans are good in pots too...easy to grow and produce lots to eat and herbs, herbs are pretty as well as tasty!

This must be an eciting time for you with a new house and garden.

Make yourself a very large mug of what ever takes your fancy and have a mooch around the threads as you will be surprised how quickly you will pick up info.

This is the teeny patch beside the shed



Soil looks very clay so I think its in need of some care before anything goes in.

The shadier side of the shed has a smaller patch, I'm undecided on what to do with this

lettuce likes a bit of shade, raspberries don't mind it, if all else fails the water butt could go there!
