Hi, thought I would join seeing as I have been lurking for a few months now.
We took on our first ever allotment earlier in the spring, a neglected half plot (more like a 3/4 sized plot) that had a third covered in an old structure base of concrete.
Since April we (my wife and 3 kids aged from 2 to 12) have cleared the site, built a boundary fence to keep my youngest from wandering off, built raised beds, levelled the ground, put weed membrane down and planted. We have also recently purchased and put a poly tunnel up as well as a shed, finally feels like the hard work has come together.
Currently we are growing:
Carrots (multi coloured and some standard ones)
Parsnips
Onions
Loads of different squashes
Courgettes
Cucumbers
Peas
Sweet peas
Strawberries
Blue berries
Raspberries
Loganberries
Black currants
Blackberries
Pumpkins
Cabbage
Sprouts
Leeks
Peppers
Chillies
Potatoes
Loads of different tomatoes
I'm sure I have missed some off but hoping the kids have something to show for all their hard work lol. Will try and post a pic or two from my phone when I can work it out.
