  • Hello from the NW of Ireland

Hi all! I had an allotment for approx 10 years, but they are now closing down. Earlier this year I decided to sell my house and buy a house with a garden. I recently got the keys and need to move the fruit trees asap. I have already transplanted the gooseberry bushes and a young cherry tree, and they are not looking good. Plenty of questions are going to be asked so any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello and Welcome to the Vine.

You have found yourself in exactley the right place to get some tips as the growers on here have a vast range of info which they share happily.

Hi there and welcome to the Vine!

Lots of help on here as Lumpy says

As far as the plants already moved...water, water, water and mulch around them.

Have you cut back your gooseberry bushes ?

They are best moved when dormant.
            However ....

I suggest you cut them back and stick the branches into the soil and those may well take as well.
Lots of water and take off most of the lower leaves.
            Something is bound to survive!

Unfortunately, the allotments are going to be closed permanently within the next days, so I need to move everything asap.

I also have a pear tree, two apple trees, a cherry tree, rasperries, redcurrant bushes, blackberry and blueberry plants, as well as 9 rhubarb plants.

My fruit trees are young. I bought them approx 3 years ago from B&M and Lidl.

Should I use bone feed or any other products? Thanks everybody!

Hello Faughan & welcome to the Jungle, I'm sure you don't need me to advise taking as much of the rootball as possible when moving bushes & trees.
