Newbie here - need advice

Hi, this is my first post and I'm completely new to gardening. I've purchased a greenhouse and wondered what I could grow in it from now right through the next few months. its not heated as yet so is it to late to grow anything in the greenhouse?

Is it up and ready? Not to late for lots of leafy things - oriental greens like pak choi, mizuna etc for salads/stir fries. Baby kale and spinach as well.

When would I start from seed in an unheated greenhouse for next year. got a lot to learn about gardening so don't want to become a pest to people on here asking all the time lol

I start inside in feb/March, gradually potting on into larger pots as they grow , then harden off (in gh during the day, back inside at night for about a week) about end of may then leave out in gh with fleece at hand in case of cold nights.

I'm quite a bit further south than you though so might need to go out a bit later for you - some of the people on here who garden further north might be able to give advice as to when.

I usually start my tomato seeds about March indoors, in a small heated propagator. They go out into the unheated GH a couple of weeks later.
Do you have a garden as well as a GH?

It's a good site. If I recall I put my toms out early this year and they were fine.

I love practically anything vegetable wise. spinach, lettuce leaves, cucumber, onions, lots of different herbs,aubergines, courgettes amongst other things. I'm vegetarian so eat loads of veg and salad. toms are top for me though as eat every day. so for them cannot wait for next season.

Although you can't grow toms at the mo you can look at all the different varieties and seeds. Wyevale have their seeds at 50p a packet know. Other places are likely to have seeds on sale. Also you could save your own as long as the plants are not f1 hybrid so if you pick up some cheap ropey plant in a bargain corner with fruit on There are loads of varieties not just moneymaker and gardeners delight.

Hi Jane You can save F1 seed but your playing lucky guess which one of the parents you are going to end up with, My crimson crush tomatoes are from saved seed from the original plants that Suttons sent me, I did get two different looking types of plants from the seed but have continued saving from the ones that look most like the original plant.

Definitely hit Wyevale whilst they still have a reasonable selection
