Congratulations, that is a nice size plot.
Can’t wait for an update when you get to see it. I still remember how excited we were to get ours two years ago. Doesn’t matter if it’s a bit overgrown you still have plenty of time. Get planting seeds in modules most things except root veg transplant fine, that way you have given yourself a head start if you do need to do some clearing first.

B&Q down our way had their little root wrap fruit bushes available again this year I saw at the weekend, red currant, black currant, white currant, blackberry and red and green gooseberries. They are also pretty cheap (£3-4) and named varieties so a good way to get a nice selection going without costing the earth.

I bought some red and white currants and first started them in pots last year and planted out when a bit more established so you could do the same while you decide where you want them, they are flowering and fruiting this year also ideal for the young ones to help with as apart from the green gooseberry they were all thornless.

:Forgot to say, obviously with the fruit bushes it may well be that you have inherited some on the plot already if you are lucky.

I was actually considering transplanting some of my container currants over there as they're pretty well established, and leaving the olive and blueberry here in their pots (childebeast no.1 likes them close by &#128518 I got the original ones as those cheap things from the factory shop and BM stores which did brilliantly with a little TLC. Will definitely be doing some shopping though... Any excuse haha!

I'm thinking it will be nice getting creative with the space and orientation of it, but most of all, I can't wait to see how many pumpkins I can cram in!

Awwwwww SO pleased for you (((BIG HUGS)))

I still remember getting mine in February 2015 - I didn't stop grinning for weeks! And the best thing was that this forum was FANTASTIC for advice. I'd never grown vegetables in my life (only flowers) but by asking questions on here I ended up with fabulous crops

                Enjoy xxxxxx

It's in a nice secluded back corner of a site very close to the house, and at only £26 per year I think it will pay for itself very quickly. Just waiting for the lease and keys then I can get stuck in.

                  Best day ever!!!!
Me to how are you tackling it because it’s am clueless good luck

So I got an email back last night saying they will be posting the lease out shortly. The wait is killing me!

Getting the key on Monday!! Everything i need for the first couple of days is sitting ready to go. I managed to get some pics but i cant seem to upload any of them. There's also a tree i need to ID, right in the middle of the plot (I'm unsure what the logic of this was but its about 8ft tall so it would be a nuisance to remove) i think its an apple though so maybe i can prune and work around it??
From my sneaky peek its not too weedy so plan to try and clear it over a couple of days and get stuck in asap. Any advice on quickly and cheaply producing beds i can work with this season would be very much appreciated

Yay how exciting! Google Charles Dowding - lots of very useful info from his videos,, and he's a bit goofy maybe, but very calming to listen to

I think I've seen some of his stuff (no dig?) Will definitely refer back to him thanks

Just looking back over the pics, I may have underestimated the size and reach of that tree. Easily 9-10 foot and some of the branches span a third of the plot... It's root system must be immense. Thinking it will have to go!!

Wow, really cool pictures! If all of that is yours, it's worth working on the areas away from the tree first, and see it through a summer to see what it produces. It might be worth the space

So I was meant to get a key yesterday only to be told the previous Tennant had not returned theirs (and was unlikely to... Whatever that means?) So I am now waiting on a new one being cut. I know I'm being incredibly impatient with all this, but it's getting really frustrating with time marching on and cancelling everything else to get this done only to be left sitting, waiting for the past two days *sigh*
                                Rant over!
In the meantime I've been getting onion sets started off, quinoa and extra squashes, sweetcorn and brassicas on the go. Any other ideas on plants I can get ready to plug in while I wait?
                                Thanks
