So today i managed to strim down the wilderness that is my plot and I initially began trying to dig out a bed only to discover the ground is very stony and very difficult to dig. A neighbouring plot recommended raised beds, something I was initially against but now feel it is the best way forward. I'm fine with making them and even have the perfect materials just laying in my shed. My question is about another suggestion he made.
My neighbour suggested lining the bottom of the bed with cardboard to kill of the weeds and grass below it. Do i put the new soil on top of this and just allow the cardboard to rot down or do i need to wait a few weeks, remove the cardboard and then put the new soil in the raised bed?
