What are these little fellas

Dug some spuds today, a couple had what looks like a small Black millipede about 1to 2 inches long that had burrowed into the potato. Are these Snake millipedes and how can I get rid.
Any information would be gratefully received.

If they�re snake millipedes it says in this rhs page below that they don�t start the damage,slugs would be the main problem starting the damage,same as when you see woodlice inside strawberries,they only go after fruit that�s already damaged. The black millipede seems to help compost organic matter & are good in the garden,if it is them,have you compared them to a photo on google images to see if it is them?
