        Probably why it's best to use them as a top dressing instead of digging into the soil. My beds each get 10 to 20 L of coffee grounds in the autumn, by the time spring comes round the soil microbiome and winter rain has dealt with the growth inhibitors and nitrogen lock up.

          Wow, Just wow, SO I work in a coffee Shop and we have around 10KG Coffee Ground a week! I think thats a bit much right! HA!
          I will keep all none glossy paper and cardboard! Thank you!

            haha I didn't read it as terse at all But I was a bit annoyed with myself that I hadn't make it clear that I only use the coffee grounds in the compost bins, so no need to apologise at all

                whatever you do, keep the coffee grounds.

                I have used them on my courgettes and had the best year I've ever had. I have had much the least slug damage.

                  Couldn’t resist chipping in. I get a lot of coffee grounds from my local lovely Starbucks staff.
                  I just put them in the rotating composter or in winter use them sprinkled on beds along with leaves and old plants and seaweed to build up the beds for spring. It’s all gone by the time I plant.
                  In the rotating composter it’s combines with chicken manure and bedding and grass clippings and pine needles and leaves and it makes really good hot compost quickly. The mixed scent of coffee and chicken manure is ..........interesting. I’m thinking Starbucks can add another bottle to their selection of flavours for coffee- ‘ country blend’. Yum.
