Lockdown it's all gone awry.

Hi just a quick note I planted all my seeds Tomatoes,leeks,sweetcorn,peppers,chillies,
watermelons,peas,the day before the Lockdown. As I have asthma I have to stay in for 12 weeks.So it looks like I will be starting with winter vegetables when I am able to get back to my plot as this is my first plot I was looking forward to growing something.

This virus is having a consequence on all our lives, all we can do is keep to the rules and hope it subsides quicker than it has arrived.

I’m on week 2 of isolation due to severe asthma and CKD. I’ve run every other day, and been to the plot on the opposite day.

It is achievable... if you practice strict social distancing then there is no reason not to visit your plot. Have sanitiser to hand, wear gloves when in contact with ‘shared’ fixtures like locks and gates. Put a sign on the entrance to your plot telling others to stay away.

I hope you can start a few things at home,like dwarf tomato in the window or parsley,basil etc some things don’t need to go outside like all female cucumbers,lettuce & spring onions. June is a good month for sowing direct if the virus clears off by then,have you got seeds & don’t worry those seed trays will just dry out & you can use the compost again,look after yourself you’re more important!

The worst case is that if it rains just enough, you could get a better crop.
The tomatoes, leeks and peas will likely just get on and grow.
The sweetcorn, peppers, chilli's and watermelons may have problems - are they in a glass house or something?
