Electricity pylons

I know I probably sound really paranoid with this question but I'm thinking of taking a plot nearby but the site has three pylons running through it and the cables are directly over the plot I'm thinking about.

I've read various articles about electro-magnetic radiation from pylons causing all kinds of havoc so I was wondering what everyone else thinks?

Everdream, this link (http://www.gorge.org/pylons/faq.shtml#cancer) might answer your question. From what I can gather the leukaemia scares of a few years ago (a) only involved young children and (b) were possibly a statistical blip.
However, read what is said and make your own judgement.

I have a mobile phone mast right at the end of mine. It didn't help my wife's peace of mind when I jokingly said "oh well, at least it'll be cooked before we pick it!!"

If your in a High EM radiation field for 24hours a day then that is one thing but the odd bit of digging under some overheads is different.

I wouldn't worry too much.

We live about 100 yards from one, but the wires don't cross our land, although the thick cable carrying the supply to our house does. Oh and it has lots of phone masts too!

I too was concerned about pylons when we were thinking of buying our house, but the people selling had lived there most of their life and none of their (or our elderly neighbours') grown-up kids had two heads, etc. The wires don't half sizzle when its rainy mind, but we couldn't have bought our house where it is (middle of Vale of Pewsey) without something bringing the price down! Lol! I'm not sure I'd have bought it if we'd been under the cables though.

You're supposed to be able to hold a strip light above your head under the pylons and it will light up!!

To be honest I would love any sort of electric we have just paid £12 thousand pound to get mains and that was 8 weeks ago and the hydro say it is going to be another 5 weeks until we get it so be gratefull.

I'm not into electrical currents , and would certainly not buy a house within a certain area of them(??!!)

I am very sensitive of electrical currents- esp in the hospital environment...
( hairs go on end and feel dizzy..)
It's probably the same exposure on an allotment as in a hospital??- probably less???

think if you feel ok ther then you'll be fine as you aren't there all day??
