I have an allotment!!!

It's none of the ones in the pictures though - I asked about the horrendously overgrown one on my favourite site and ended up not only getting it but rent free till 2009 too!

It's going to be a crazy amount of work to clear it, I'm going to need an axe and the world's toughest gloves but I don't care! I'm so, so happy to have a plot and on such a fabulous, well tended, family friendly site

I'm going to see if I can get on the site later today and take some pics for you all to tut and shake your heads over

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to look through all my pics and listen to me waffle.

I'm off for a little cry now!

Take it slow and steady.
Clear a little, cover it to prevent it re-weeding.
Then clear the next bit.

Oh Seahorse! How fab is that?! Just the right time of year too - plenty of time to get clearing it before spring! I got mine exactly a year ago today and I've had so much satisfaction from it - I'm sure you're going to love it!

Congratulations especially getting a plot at your favourite site. You've now got several months to make a decent start clearing it before any real planting begins. Additionally if its not been used for so long the soil should be full of nutrients (thats what I was told anyway!). Finally if its really bad I'd consider hiring machinery for at least a day to get you started.

hard work pays of ours had not been sed for a year or two so the beds were well rested
have a bonfire with all the weeds we did was fun
