New Manure for Allotment

Hi folks,
going to pick up a trailer full of fresh manure tomorrow, can I spread it over my allotment right away or does it need to stand for a year before I use it? I won't be planting anything until spring.

Yes you can spread it fresh the worms and the weather will break it down.

well, I got my manure, thought I'd done quite well to get only a little on my shoes and a bit smeared on my left hand - until I got home and quickly whipped my trousers off (a little manure on bottom of trousers too!) to find a load of the stuff trapped in my turnups (yes, turnups not turnips!!!), all over the kitchen floor!!! Yuck!! Hubby not impressed!! :/

My dad is bringing my nice fresh horse manure one of theese days. I'm so lucky that my fiance can't smell a thing after an accident he had when younger- very practical in this siuation! And I'm sure our puppy will love it too! :P

I just wish I could get hold of some! If the ground is empty then you can spread it (fairly thickly) and leave the worms to pull it in. You shouldn't use fresh manure round growing plants cos it will burn them.
